Devizes Opportunity Centre is looking for a passionate and experienced Deputy Manager / SENCO to join our small, supportive team in Devizes. We are one of five Specialist Early Years Centres in Wiltshire, providing high-quality pre-school education, therapeutic care and ongoing support for children with additional needs and their families.

You will use a range of communication approaches (such as visuals, Makaton and intensive interaction) and work alongside professionals including SALT, physiotherapists, health visitors and paediatricians.

About the role
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will:
- Support the Centre Manager and act as Manager in their absence
- Lead on SEND practice, supporting children within the Centre, mainstream settings and during transitions to school
- Work closely with children, families, staff and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for every child
- Act as Deputy SENCO and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Lead the playroom team, ensuring engaging, inclusive activities aligned with EYFS and SEND guidance
- Act as a keyworker for named children, supporting learning, development and personal care
- Support staff supervision, safeguarding, health & safety, and Centre policies
- Assist with administration, fundraising and promotional events

About you
You will have:
- A Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above)
- At least 3 years’ experience in an early years setting
- Leadership and SENCO experience
- Strong knowledge of EYFS and safeguarding
The following are desirable, but training will be provided:
- Paediatric First Aid
- Designated Safeguarding training
- Experience working with children with additional needs or autism
- Makaton knowledge (or willingness to learn)
